How to Describe Changes Since Your Last Pain-Management Visit

September 21, 2026

Healthcare provider reviewing medical information with a patient

A follow-up pain-management visit is more useful when you can describe what has changed since the last appointment. Changes may include symptom location, intensity, frequency, sleep, activity tolerance, medication effects, or new medical care from another clinician.

Before the visit, consider noting

  • What is better, worse, or unchanged
  • Any new areas of pain or new numbness, tingling, or weakness
  • Changes in sleep, walking, work, driving, or exercise
  • Medication changes, side effects, or new prescriptions
  • Any new imaging, procedures, urgent-care visits, or specialist evaluations

Do not change prescribed medicines on your own because symptoms have changed. Contact an appropriate clinician promptly for severe or rapidly worsening symptoms.

Med Clinics LLC provides pain-management follow-up care in Tucson and can review changes in the context of your individual history and examination.
